Presents and displays the results of a cooperative study of selected water and related land resource problems in the upper Snake River Plain. 6 concerns with 3 alternatives are identified. Many federal and state agencies participated in study. Geographic location: Upper Snake River Plain, regional Enhancement of environmental quality and national economic development are the overriding objectives of the plan developed by the Upper Snake Cooperative River Basin Study. The plan of work identified four specific objectives to be studied: (1) enhance environmental quality, (2) reduce erosion and sedimentation, (3) improve irrigation water distribution and use, and (4) evaluate USDA opportunities to improve the economic condition of the Basin. Considering these four specific objectives, twenty-five concerns were identified and screened. The following were selected for detailed study: shortage of recreation facilities, soil erosion, inadequate irrigation water delivery structures, unimproved on-farm irrigation systems, deficient rangeland condition, and inadequate supply of wood fiber. Alternative plans were developed incorporating these concerns.
