Consulting geologist John Osmond describes his study to locate a water source for use in the Island in the Sky District of the newly designated Canyonlands National Park. He concludes that of the numerous seeps and springs in the district, all are too small and unreliable to warrant trying to transport them, with the possible exception of Holeman spring. Holeman's flow would need to be monitored throughout at least one year before a determination could be made. A map and table of springs and seeps is included. Osmond discusses water wells near, but outside of the district, but no obvious source is identified. Upheaval Bottom is suggested as a good site for drilling water wells into the water-bearing White Rim Sandstone.
