Information is provided on the techniques for monitoring specific conductance and pH; the units of measure used; the relationship of pH and conductance to stream hydrologic processes; different types of monitoring equipment used and their relative advantages and disadvantages; interpretation of pH and conductance data; problems with monitoring equipment; and hints for the proper use and care of equipment.
