This progress report details in progress made on a study to determine whether brood parasitism effects the productivity of black-throated sparrows in Montezuma castle. Fifty-seven percent of black-throated sparrow nests had been parasitized by brown-headed cowbirds. Parasitism was more common in study sites dominated by crucifixion thorn (80%) than by sites with mainly creosote bush (20%).
