Spring staging of waterfowl along the Naknek River, Alaska Peninsula, Alaska February - May 1992

Cook NA. 1992. Spring staging of waterfowl along the Naknek River, Alaska Peninsula, Alaska February - May 1992. US Fish and Wildlife Service. King Salmon, AK

Spring waterfowl survey was conducted...along the Naknek River...continuing annual surveys initiated in 1983. Following the 1991 model, comprehensive ground surveys accompanied standard aerial surveys to document species composition, abundance, phenology, and distribution for historical record and relating variations to migration phenology and human disturbance along the river. For the first time, additional aerial surveys were conducted of the Kvichak and Ugashik Rivers to determine how the Naknek River fit into spring staging distribution along the Alaska Peninsula.
