This 1984 document contains Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game recommendations concerning management policies, objectives, and issues for Katmai National Park and Preserve. Topics addressed include access, facilities, inholdings, fisheries and wildlife, research, management, public information, boundary adjustments, and land exchanges. The State of Alaska recommends that U.S. National Park Service maintain the opportunity for traditional access including roads, waterways, trails, and aircraft landing areas; all traditional methods of transport including mechanized vehicles and aircraft should be maintained. Further, the State recommends that a broad, liberal approach to access be used in planning for Katmai Park. NPS is requested to cooperate with the State and other federal agencies on issues of importance to the Park. Specific recommendations are made for fish and game management; these generally suggest that NPS should follow the State's lead in managing fish and game.
