A mail out survey was sent to randomly selected Wyoming residents sampled proportional to county population. Respondents were asked questions about their attitude toward the wolf (Canis lupus), their knowledge of the wolf and their willingness to reintroduce the wolf into Yellowstone National Park. Most respondents from the Wyoming general public were in favor of wolf reintroduction (48.5%). Respondents who were in favor of wolf reintroduction into Yellowstone National Park were younger, had higher occupation scores than anti-wolf respondents and had higher education levels and knowledge of the wolf. These respondents tended to be more urbanized and lived further away from Yellowstone National Park. Respondents who were against wolf reintroduction (34.5%) were typically older, rural background, less than graduate education level and had a poor knowledge of the wolf. Approximately 17% of the respondents had no opinion on the wolf reintroduction issue.
