In the Grand Canyon, the most of the major rapids of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon occur in fracture zones, running perpendicular to the river. A number of steep tributaries flowing within the zones of weak bedrock move large debris into the Colorado River, forming the rapids. Very brief bibliography, 3 figures
