Study of ground water conditions at Quitobaquito Springs, LaAbra Plain, and Sonlyta Valley of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (notebook)
USGS. 1986. Study of ground water conditions at Quitobaquito Springs, LaAbra Plain, and Sonlyta Valley of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (notebook)
The notebook of papers associated with the ground water survey at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument includes correspondence, 1987 and 1986 annual reports, and two pages of Quitobaquito discharge figures. The study was initiated to determine spring flows, long-term changes in flows, and the effects of ditch vegetation and agricultural pumping in Mexico on flow rates. A large amount of vegetation such as Scirpus olneyi was found, and long-term flow may be decreasing. Correlation of rainfall and runoff with spring flows was also studied, and hydrographs of data are included with both annual reports showing data from 1982 to 1986 and 1987.
