A report examining the amphibian and reptile populations within the National Parks of California. A special focus is on the population decline or extirpation of species within the protected parks. The foothill yellow legged frog (Rana boylii) and the red-legged frog (Rana aurora) are two species of particular concern at Pinnacles NM. The report describes field survey methodology and results and discusses the concern for amphibian and reptile decline in general. A listing of the amphibian and reptile species observed in the parks (including Pinnacles and Lassen Volcanic NP) is included.
