This study was designed to sample foliage insects in a series of natural communities and limited to those insects that could be caught by sweep-netting. Thirty thousand invertebrates were collected from 15 stations. Distribution patterns were charted for 100 species, and members of the same family often shared similar habitats. More modern insect groups tended toward drier environments. Higher elevations usually meant population decreases.
