As the National Research Council launches its novel study of the threat to cattle posed by Yellowstone's bison, scientists are beginning to make headway on the source of the threat--brucellosis. At a meeting on bison ecology and management here last week, researchers reported that one-fifth of the females in the herd appear to be infected.
