Authors interviewed hunters on the main island of Tutuila at 3-month intervals to determine annual take of Pacific pigeons (Ducula pacifica Gmelin), purple-capped fruit doves (Ptilinopus porphyraceus Temminck), Tongan fruit bats (Pteropus tonganus Quoy & Gaimard), and Samoan fruit bats (Pteropus samoensis Peale). Table gives estimates of populations for hunted species on Tutuila before and after Hurricane Ofa, which destroyed fruit crops in February 1990.
