Numbers of fish in cool-water tributaries during summer increased exponentially in relation to nearby Firehole River temperatures. Fish also used the tributaries at other times. In summer rainbow and brown trout in the middle and lower Firehole River live near their upper lethal temperatures, which has implications if global warming continues.
