Surface Water within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

The results of a study of the surface water drainages within Glen Canyon Recreation and Resource Area are reported. The drainages which contribute significant amounts of surface water to Lake Powell have been identified, and their surface areas measured from topographical maps. Forty-three drainages were visited and surveyed for flowing water, local geology, plant and animal life, and the presence of tar sands ani uranium. Each site was photographed, 110w measurements were recorded where possible, and water samples were collected for chemical analysis. The drainages included in this study are: Alcove Canyon, Bowns Canyon, Bullfrog Creek, Castle Creek, Cha Canyon, Chaol Canyon, Clearwater Canyon, Copper Canyon, Cow Canyon, Coyote Gulch, Crystal Spring Canyon, Dark Canyon, Desha Canyon, Forbidden Canyon, Forgotton Canyon, Four Mile Canyon, Grand Gulch, Hansen Creek, Iceberg Canyon, Johns Canyon Lake Canyon, Long Canyon, Moki Canyon, Mtn. Sheep Canyon, Nasja Creek, Navajo Creek, Nokai Wash, Oak Canyon, Oljeto Wash, Padre Canyon, Piute Creek Waterfall, Piute Creek, Red Canyon, Reflection Canyon (right fork), Rockhouse Gulch, Slickhorn Canyon, Slickrock Canyon, Smith Fork, Ticaboo Creek, Trachyte Creek, White Canyon and Wilson Canyon.
