Report of a survey of Texas beaches from the Rio Grande to Aransas Pass, including Padre Island National Seashore, Texas, to map the locations of submerged oil from the IXTOC I oil spill. Results indicate that the greatest amount of oil remains in oil mats 'in the intertidal and surf zones, primarily within the first trough. The oils has assumed a very stable form and much of it is buried in the shifting sands.'
