A survey of the distribution, abundance, and habitat of fishes in the streams of Prince William Forest Park
Kelso DP, Lawson JS, Mann JE. 1995. A survey of the distribution, abundance, and habitat of fishes in the streams of Prince William Forest Park. George Mason University, Department of Biology. Fairfax, VA
This report reviews and summarizes the scientific literature concerning local fish species' distribution, habitat needs, preferences and ecological requirements in the streams of the Piedmont and coastal plain geoprovinces with the goal of preparing a habitat suitability model for each species. The document also analyzes fish distribution and abundance in streams in the park and delineates selected habitat features of the streams of the park. The data provides an assessment of the current status of fish communities in the park's watershed which will allow park managers to identify and assign priorities to areas of concern for management of aquatic resources in the park.
