Cicerello RR and Hannan RR. 1990. Survey of the freshwater unionids (mussels): (Bivalvia: Margaritiferidae and Unionidae) in the Green River in Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky. Eastern National Park and Monument Association. Philadelphia, PA
The Green River in Mammoth Cave National Park was surveyed during 1987, 1988, and 1989 in order to determine the distribution and status of freshwater unionids (mussels) in the park. 47 species were collected from 42 sites. Acceptable literature and museum records for 4 species that may be rediscovered increase the unionid fauna of the park to 51. These species are listed by Latin and common names and detailed in this report. Their status on federal or state endangered or threatened listings are noted. The Research Projects file also contains a print-out of monitored species within Mammoth Cave National Park.
