This report contains information related to the suitability of wetlands adjacent to Biscayne Bay for the disposal of dredge and fill material. The report grouped the wetlands into four categories: mangroves, coastal herbaceous flats, freshwater wetlands, and exotics dominated wetlands. The basis for evaluation of the groups included wildlife, food, and habitat values; water quality enhancement; stormflow attenuation; storm surge protection; aquifer recharge; dynamic storage; provision of wildlife corridors; and the capacity to provide a buffer zone for wetlands of higher value. The report contains GIS maps on the vegetation cover types; topography; soil types; federal, state, and local jurisdictional boundaries; and suitability for future disposal of fill materials.
