Tectonic setting of the southern Cascade Range as interpreted from its magnetic and gravity fields

Aeromagnetic data was compared with residual gravity data for the southern Cascade Range in order to focus on regional aspects of young volcanic rocks and the underlying basement. Six specific regional features were found. One of the six was that "Mount Shasta, Lassen Peak and Medicine Lake volcanoes are situated in a broad magnetic low possibly caused by an upwarp of the Curie-temperature isotherm."
