Till ridges are presently forming along the calving margin of Plateau Glacier. The ridges are up to 4 m high and have an orientation similar to that transverse crevasses back from the margin. Composition of the till and till fabric orientation suggest that the ridges are composed of basal till squeezed into the base of the ice. Till fabric measurements were made in several ridges still in ice at the base of transverse crevasses. Similar ridges were detected by sonar to a depth of at least 120 m below sea level in front of the calving margin.
