This checklist is designed for the amateur interested in knowing what birds have been observed in American Fork Canyon. The birds found in the canyon are not always the same as those in the closely associated Utah Valley. The list includes the lower part of the canyon up to the open parklike areas around Timpooneke and Granite Flat. The range in elevation is approximately 5000 to 7000 feet. Cover types range from sagebrush through oak-pinyon-juniper, coniferous-aspen forest and river bottom areas.
