During the spring of 1983, avian censuses were done at Quitobaquito Springs oasis on paired riparian study plots, one used by visitors, and the other off limits. The spot-map method was used. One object of the study was to gather baseline data regarding birdlife at the oasis, Concerning the other, management of the area, it was found that bird use of the two areas didn't differ significantly. Some preference by migrant birds for the visitor-use area is probably due to the presence of more cottonwoods. The report also contains a map of the paired study plots, species lists of breeding and migratory birds, and a graph comparing migratory and breeding birds.
