This paper develops a study to characterize the invasion of open areas by trees in the Jemez Mountains, NM. Natural meadows, grasslands created by grazing, and areas of timber harvests are differentiated to compare composition, rates, and influencing factors of tree invasion. This proposal explains sampling design, variables to be measured, and statistical processes. There are hand-drawn diagrams of the layout of visual media to be generated.
