This report presents the results of an aerial survey of trumpeter swans, which was conducted on 18 September 1986. The survey area included two count units: a north unit that ranged from Klawasi River north to the outlet of Jack Lake and bordered by the Copper River; and a south unit that extended from the Klawasi River up the Chitina River to Dan Creek, then south to include the Tana, Hanagita, Tebay, and Bremner rivers. A total of 280 swans were counted in 1986. The number of cygnets observed indicated that 1986 was a good season for the rearing of young swans.
