Backcountry management plan: Denali National Park and Preserve : draft

US National Park Service. 1982. Backcountry management plan: Denali National Park and Preserve : draft. Denali National Park AK

This is an updated version of the backcountry management plan drafted for Mt. McKinley National Park in 1976. The plan serves as the basis for backcountry guidelines, thus regulating backcountry use. It incorporates the management objectives presented in the 1982 Resource Management Plan, and describes the existing natural resources and developments and use in the Park. The plan sets objectives relative to natural resources protection and objectives for visitor enjoyment and safety. These collectively speak to wildlife; vegetation; soil; water quality; solid waste; perceptions of visitor crowding and related impacts on resources; visitor-related control by administration; environmental challenges and safety; and visitor group conflicts. Backcountry policies, and alternatives are also described. Use limits, permits, reservations, education, and control of backcountry use are addressed.
