This article describes two devices used to mark moose (Alces americanus) for field identification. The first trap is a rat trap from between two trees, and when triggered, causes a razor to slice the suspended marking material, which showers down on the moose. The other has a trip wire, which when activated causes the pressure to trigger a pivoting arm to deposit the coloring matter over its back and shoulders.
