This paper summarizes the resources of the Kluane-Wrangell-St. Elias World Heritage Site and the problems of its joint management by the United States and Canada. The Heritage Site encompasses about 15,000 square miles and includes both coastal and continental environments. There are some 2,000 glaciers within the site. Four broad plant zones occur: moist coastal, montane, sub-alpine, and alpine. The Dall sheep population is the largest in the world with more than 12,000 individuals. Moose are numerous as are bears, wolves, and caribou. A list of rare plants is provided, as are some metrics from glaciers.
