The uniqueness and value of the Montezuma Well-ditch system as a research resource

Cole GA. 1982. The uniqueness and value of the Montezuma Well-ditch system as a research resource. Arizona State University. Tempe, AZ

This report presents the different aspects of Montezuma Well's ecosystem, and the biological, geological, chemical, and physical problems that it faces. The Well is an excellent research tool for investigating all facets of carbonate solubility and equilibrium dynamics. The Well is highly accessible. Minute, calcite particles is suspended in the water and in the ditch. The calcites create an unnatural gap between hardness assays (with EDTA or similar complexing agents) and alkalinity tests. There is a table which shows morphologic and morphometric data and another table with optical data from the Well.
