The study looks at levels of fecal coliform, fecal streptococcus and total coliform bacteria in streams and springs in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.The purpose of the study was to establish existing conditions relative to water quality standards for drinking water, primary and secondary contact, and to identify any alterations in natural bacterial levels due to heavy public use.
