Authors used a mix of diphacinone and lean hamburger to poison mongooses in the area of Kipuka Nene grid, a nesting and brooding area for Nene in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Tables give estimated populations and densisties of mongooses at this site and at a control site (Hilina Pali) before and after toxicant tests. Conclusions include recommendations for future use of the poison to reduce mongoose populations and thus facilitate Nene breeding.
