During the spring and summer of 1995, 156 bald eagle nests were surveyed for productivity. Of these nests, 92 (59%) were occupied territories and 64 (41%) wre unoccupied territories. Among the occupied territories there were 44 successful nests containing a total of 51 young. The Glacier Bay bald eagle population displayed a 48% success rate with 0.6 young fledged/occupied territory. This productivity rate is close to the average for other areas in Alaska. Locating nests and determining productivity were more easily achieved when aerial flights were conducted at < 125 meters and < 80 knots. The Bartlett Cove and Beardslee Islands experienced a higher occupancy rate and lower success rate than either Hugh Miller or Geikie Inlets
