The scenic Bryce Canyon "breaks" constitute harsh and inhospitable habitats for plant life. The eroded pink cliffs and talus slopes are sites of some of the most rapid natural erosion on earth. This paper divides the plant life on the breaks of the main Bryce Canyon amphitheater into four vegetative types. A checklist of all plant species found in the main amphitheater is included. Many of the rare and endangered endemic species of the park are found in the Pinus longaeva vegetative type. Recommendations for managing the breaks to protect endemics are presented.
