A study concerning the vegetation of East and West Ship Islands in the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Florida and Mississippi. A description of Ship Island includes geology, physiography, soils, and climatic data. Transects were used to analyze plant communities. An inventory and distribution map of plant communities on the island was produced. The effects of hurricanes on the island's forests, the influence of topography on species distribution, and successional trends are studied. The results are discussed and presented in tabular form.
