Results of a study of Muir Woods National Monument. Based on literature view, observation and study of vegetation composition/distribution and tree age structure. Includes information on succession, fire frequency, fire hazard, soil compaction, tree and fern planting, riprapping stream channels, removal of fallen trees, exotic species. Appendices include descriptions of soil types, a list of plant species found in the various vegetation types, descriptions of vegetation types. A vegetation map is in a back pocket of the report. It shows the distribution of 14 vegetation types.
