Report on project to define and describe vegetation types. Here is the original presentation of this classification system which has been used by many since: Upland Pine Forests (pine sandhill, pine forests, pine savanna wetland); Slope Forests (upper slope pine oak, mid slope oak pine, lower slope hardwood pine); Floodplain Forests (stream floodplain forests, river floodplain forest, cypress-tupelo swamp); Flatland Forests (flatland hardwood pine, flatland hardwood); Baygalls. Also describes vegetation by unit. Appendix is a key to major natural vegetation types of BTNP.
