The purpose of this project is to develop rehabilitation plans and guidelines for the disturbed areas within the park. Revegetating arid lands such as those of the Bryce Canyon area is a very difficult task because of the environmental limitations (Low precipitation and alkaline soils) and the high amount of visitor traffic. This is the first attempt at an extensive rehabilitation project within Bryce Canyon and there was very little specific information available on this subject. Some of the procedures are almost experimental. There are several guidelines for seeding and planting that will be presented within these reports. It is important that these guidelines are followed closely in order for the revegetation efforts to be successful. The five areas included in this report are all high visitor impact areas and it is important that they be stringently protected for the specified amount of time and beyond following revegetation.
