The USDA Forest Service mapped the vegetation types of American Samoa and conducted a forest survey. These maps (4 included) are intended to provide guides for land-use planning and forest resource management. The text outlines the types of vegetation found in American Samoa, and provides a list of all plant species included in the survey. Map 1 covers the Western half of Tutuila Island, Map 2 the Eastern side. Map 3 includes the Western half of the Manu`a Islands, including Nuutele, Ofu, and Olosega. Map 4 is devoted to Ta`u Island. All maps are topographic, 1:24,000 scale, and include extensive vegetation legends.
