This is an extensive piece of work done on the Lassen Peak area. It consists of two parts (four chapters each) and an appendix. Part I, Eruption of Volcano, covers the sequence of events beginning with the explosive activity and ends with a summary of field observations. Part II, The Hot Springs of Lassen National Park, describes how observation and experimental work was completed. Included is the field and laboratory work, chemical effects of the hot water and gases, and the origin of the hot springs and their relation to igneous activity. The appendix is a list of observed eruptions of Lassen Peak between 1914 and 1917 taken by J.S. Diller.
