Water Quality of Springs and Seeps in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

Since previous studies had not provided chemical data on the seeps and springs of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, this group evaluated a number of these water sources for both recreational purposes and baseline conditions. The baseline data will be a reference for future monitoring. A map identifies study sites along the Colorado River drainage in the recreation area, and the report provides details of the methodology used. The conclusion points out how vital these water sources are to the flora and fauna of the area, and in particular that the riparian and aquatic environments at the springs and seeps are unique habitats within the desert. An appendix summarizes field and laboratory data, including mineral quantities.
