This overview of rehabilitation work in the Redwood Creek basin describes the setting and need for erosion control work, treatments, and results. Tables show costs of various treatments. As a result of initial experiments, methods have evolved. Understanding that only a small percentage of added sediment comes from surface erosion, workers now concentrate on re-establishing streams in their natural channels, a more cost-effective method of reducing sedimentation. The paper also mentions changes in revegetation techniques, with current efforts aimed at encouraging natural long-term succession. Includes 6 photographs.
