This first-year report describes a long-term erosion control program for lands added to Redwood National Park in the late 1970's; these areas had been logged not long before. Goals include protection of park resources from effects of excess sediment, as well as restoration of natural ecosystems of both land and water, including hastening development in the cutover areas of forest resembling the original redwood/Douglas fir woodland. The report describes various rehabilitation techniques (particularly for logging roads), along with some revegetation techniques such as wattling and stem cuttings. Drawings show outsloping, used to recontour former roads; 15 photographs illustrate techniques and progress.
