During February 1983, most of Lake Clark National Preserve was surveyed from the air to determine areas of winter moose concentrations and to assess productivity. Results of the survey are depicted on maps and data forms. The authors note that visibility was poor during the survey and suggest that these survey data cannot be interpreted to reflect either absolute numbers or densities. Of 501 moose seen during this survey, 27.5% were calves. Overall, moose densities in the Lake Clark region were fairly low.
