Biotech firms are waiting to exploit the famous hot springs of Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service signed a pioneering contract that formally opened the hot springs to bioentrepreneurs on August 17. The first agreement gave Diversa of San Diego, California, the right to commercialize thermophiles collected in the park in return for a fee and a share of the profits. Opposition to such deals has been raised by those against the commercialization of living things.
