San Juan Island National Historical Park Wetland Inventory 1998

Holmes RE. 1998. San Juan Island National Historical Park Wetland Inventory 1998. National Park Service

Wetlands of San Juan Island National Historic Park were inventoried, mapped, characterized using the "Routine Onsite Determination Method" and "Plant Community Assessment Procedure". Field trips to each potential wetland site to verify and document the existence of wetlands were conducted from early April to late May, 1998. Twenty-six wetlands were mapped in the American Camp unit and nine wetlands in the English Camp unit. Plant and animal species were documented and photos taken at each site. A database was developed with 72 fields describing characteristics at each wetland. Surface water was tested at selected sites to determine conductivity.
