A number of investigators have reported trends in clutch size for sea turtles over the course of the nesting season. Most authors maintain that clutch size decreases as the season progresses while others report that it increases or exhibits no trend in either direction. Two alternative approaches have been used to analyze seasonal trends in clutch size. In some studies, individual turtles have been followed as they laid successive clutches. Alternatively, investigators have examined clutches laid at different times thoughout the season, irrespective of the individuals that laid them.
