An aerial survey to assess the beaver population at Isle Royale was conducted in October of 1978. 156 sites were identified and were classified by habitat and presence of activity. Beavers were live trapped and examined. An increase in the presence of the parasitic beetle, Leptinillus validus Horn, was noted.
