The Jose Juan Tank in Cabeza Prieta Game Range is the waterhole chosen for the study of activity and interactions between quail and raptors. One reason for the choice was the drinking troughs provided for cattle at immediately-adjacent Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The crepuscular quail activity is thought to relate to predation and the mid-day use of the waterhole by raptors. Brief bibliography, 1 figure.
