Benthic macroinvertebrates (fish food organisms) were collected twice a year in ten streams in the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains. The biological health of each stream was assessed using the Biotic Condition Index. Six of the streams were used for baseline information, while the other four were selected to 'monitor the effects of forest management activities' such as cattle exclosures, pumice mining, remodeling campgrounds, and runoff from a parking lot. Each stream is rated for ecological health. The invertebrates collected are listed to family level and some to genus and species.
