This report outlines the species composition of the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. It also examines community variability for the aquatic invertebrates. Samples were collected using the California Stream Bioassessment Procedure developed as a water quality tool for detecting changes in the biological integrity of aquatic systems. The species present are listed and include 94 taxa, indicating high diversity. Recommendations include conducting additional sampling to rule out seasonal variation. Further taxonomic work is also advised. The macroinvertebrates collected for this study are stored in Devils Postpile superintendent's office in Bishop, CA.
